cost of translation services

 Cost of Translation Services

Translation Rate per Word

Price per Word: £0.04

For example, if your novel has 72,000 words, it would come to £2,880 or roughly $3,600 (depending on the currency exchange rate).

An average page has 250 words, so the translation cost per page would be £10.

Once the translation is finished, I will thoroughly review it to eliminate all typos or mistakes.

Any minor text translations, e.g. for the blurb, marketing materials, short description, or cover description, are free. Just email or contact me on FB, and I shall get going.

Just for your information: I am working with translation memory software as it is standard in this line of work. This way, I can guarantee consistent quality and accurate work. I, not a machine, still do the translation.pen and paper

External Proofreading

On request. Prices vary but are usually in the £1.50 /  £2.50 per page (250 words) range.

If you would like me to source a professional proofreader, please get in touch with me.

Payment

I would kindly ask for a one-off upfront payment of £500 (which will be deducted from the total).
I am also happy for payment by milestones, depending on the size of your project. We can discuss this beforehand, and I am pretty flexible.
If you have your proofreader, I am happy to implement their comments/changes in the final work before I deliver.

You can pay by bank transfer through Wise or PayPal. I prefer payment through Wise.com. If you are new to Wise, I am happy to answer your questions and send you an invitation link. Wise lets you pay by bank transfer or debit/credit card.

If you wish to pay with PayPal, that’s fine by me, but I will have to add a 5% surcharge, as they are taking a massive chunk as “service” fees, and I will always be at a loss (even with the surcharge).

Last but not least

Once we agree on a schedule, I will stick to it. A week before the agreed start, I shall send you my service contract with all relevant information (time, word count, cost of translation, etc.). Please read it carefully, sign and send it back to me. You can either sign and scan the contract to send it back or take a good photo and email it. Or, you can sign it online on one of those e-signing pages.

As a micro business, I do not need to charge VAT.

Please remember: the copyright for the finished translation remains with the translator (me). You are legally required to mention my name within the impressum of your book.
